Awareness and the mind

I watched a YouTube video by an Australian monk who studied in Hawaii it was short but very informative about the mind and awareness. Think of awareness as an orb, a bright glowing orb in your mind you can move it around your mind to experience different emotions/thoughts this is awareness as I understand it to be. TV, media and your feelings

Television and the media, every time I turn the TV on and watch the news it looks depressing, about 10 years ago I stopped watching soap operas because the content was just doom and gloom highlighting negative subjects in our western ,UK Society. Why a better way?
